Aftermath Of Bellows Ln Fire 12/11/08 Part 1

Companies had just gone available from a run on Rhode Island Avenue, and were returning to quarters or had made it back to quarters when County Communications received a 9-1-1 call for a house under construction that was heavily involved. Battalion 13 (Ianetta) was first to arrive and called for the first due engine to lead off with 2 1/2″ attack lines due to the volume of fire and the SFD exposure to the “B” side of the fire building. The first alarm included Engines 1322, 1352, and Ladder 1324 and RL 1344 as the RIT company. Engine 13-7, Cascade 13-7, Rehab 13, and Squad 13 and Squrt 1331 along with the Cherry Hill Fire Police were also special called on the “all hands”. The fire building was a 2 story wood frame that was under construction and was framed and sheathed with no walls or ceilings installed. The roof over the garage the A/B/C corner collapsed during the initial fire attack. The SFD to the “B” side of the fire had all of its siding, windows, and attic vent go molten due to the radiant heat from the fire building. Lines were placed on the exposure and fire building and a quick knockdown was achieved. The fire’s origin and cause is under investigation by the Cherry Hill Fire Marshals Office at this time.
